Development Director
Girl Power Rocks, Inc. (GP), is a Miami, FL, based 501(c)3 non-profit with a twenty-year history of serving at-promise girls and their families/caregivers through trauma informed evidenced-based programs and services. GP’s strength lies in its gender specific safe spaces and signature programs which include Girls’ Rock After-school, Sister Circle Mentoring, Girl Intervention Program Plus, Summer STEAM Camps, and Girls’ Choir of Miami.
GP is at a vital moment in its trajectory. The agency is anticipating the development and opening of Mama Hattie’s House, Social, Educational and Residential Complex and as such is preparing for the upcoming multi-million-dollar capital campaign. Mama Hattie’s House will offer a home-away-from- home for girls who are at risk of sex trafficking, aging out of foster care, exiting detention, or transiting from homelessness, abuse and neglect. Mama Hattie’s House will also offer house parent quarters with full amenities; a permanent home for Girl Power’s vital programs, staff and offices; and space to house local businesses and entrepreneurship opportunities.
To carry-out the campaign and expand GP’s mission, the agency is seeking a seasoned, creative, and accomplished development professional to serve as Development Director (DD). The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts in the five- to six-figure range, ideally within a company/agency focused on supporting the needs of at-promise children/youth, (supporting the needs of at-promise girls is a plus). S/he will manage a portfolio of high wealth prospects by designing and developing solicitation strategies; identifying gift opportunities that match donors’ interests and personally soliciting gifts and continually stewarding major gift donors.
The Development Director will have a track record of success working with prospects and donors to secure individual, planned and blended gifts. The DD will utilize clearly defined goals, objectives and transparent methods with which to measure success. S/he will instill the importance of stewarding all gifts in ways that strengthen donors’ interests in and satisfaction with GP.
The successful candidate will serve as an eloquent spokesperson and representative for GP at the Agency’s planned events, performances and at all special events locally and nationally. The candidate will report to the President/CEO and produce three to four direct reports. The successful DD will interface with the Mama Hattie House Capital Campaign Committee and the Mama Hattie House Board Committee.
